No one can get enough of these brownie cookies. Dark, fudgy, gooey, incredibly rich and so satisfying, these are cookies that will be made again and again because you're going to LOVE them!! And the addition of the cherries is the cherry on top ;) Naturally sweetened (I know!) and made free from: dairy, egg, nuts, soy, junk.

Double Chocolate Cherry Brookies!! I got a ton of requests for this recipe when I featured them on my insta stories.

So let’s get started!!

New Year, new format

Firstly, I have missed you all so much! What a year it’s been for all of us. The last time I blogged on here was months ago. So it felt incredibly amazing to pick up my camera and start shooting again.

I decided that I’m going to write whatever comes from my heart. It might be a couple of paragraphs or 2 pages long! I don’t want to write for the sake of seeking approval from Google (analytics). As much as I want more and more of you to find my blog and make my recipes, I don’t want to write just for the sake of ranking. Because at the end of the day, you just want to learn how to make that particular recipe :)

What’s a Brookie?

A brookie is simply the combination of a brownie and a cookie. And they are the most delicious things you’ll make this year!!!

You’ll love these brookies because they’re:

  • fudgy

  • decadent

  • rich

  • not overly sweet

  • hidden cherries everywhere

  • chocolatey

  • perfect for gifting

  • perfect for sharing

  • easy to make

  • easier to eat!!!!

Check out these recipes too! Fudge-filled pink pavlova,  chocolate peppermint thumbprint, soft choc chip!

Why you’re going to love these cookies

Aside from everything I’ve mention so far, they’re also simple to make (I may have also mentioned this a couple of times too)! Munsur made them twice by himself, and they actually came out better than when I make them.

They’re naturally sweetened with my favorite sweetener – honey! and coconut sugar. Add cocoa, some dark chocolate, sweet (or tart) cherries, and you’ve got yourself this marvellous wonder we call a brookie (aka brownie cookie)!

Plus – these babies are free from:

  • dairy

  • egg

  • nuts

  • soy

  • refined sugars

  • junk

Are you doing the happy dance with me?!

My kids weigh in

Sofia says: “They are soooo delicious. They are very chocolatey so if you like chocolate definitely make these. They have the right amount of sweetness. You should not feed them to your pets.” (lol!)

Munsur says: “I like them because they’re really soft. They’re not bitter but they’re not too sweet. They’re easy and fun to make. They make a great quick breakfast with milk (Sofia added the milk part!) That’s all I have.”

Kids are the best; and you know they can be brutally honest about things.

Find me on Instagram where I share daily stories and reels too! My reels show you exactly how to make my recipes in 30 seconds or less! As soon as I post the reel for these brookies I’ll come back and link it here :)

I’m also on Facebook and Pinterest, so if you’d like to follow me there too that would be great!

TIA!

When you make these brookies, don’t forget to rate the recipe and leave a comment (please)! It helps others when they read your feedback and/or any constructive criticism you may have. Plus this helps my blog grow which is always appreciated.

Happy brookie baking my friends!! xx

Ingredients

Instructions

  1. 1Preheat oven to 350F and line 2 large baking sheets with parchment paper. Set aside.
  2. 2In a bowl, sift together the flour, cocoa, baking soda, and salt. Set aside.
  3. 3In the bowl of an electric mixer fitted with the paddle attachment, cream together the butter, coconut or brown sugar, honey, and vanilla. Beat on medium speed until fluffy. About 3-5 minutes.
  4. 4Add the flour mixture, and beat on low speed at first until just combined. Increase speed to medium low and continue beating until all ingredients are well combined. Add chocolate chips and chopped cherries and continue beating for 30 seconds more, until they're mixed into the batter.
  5. 5Divide batter evenly onto prepared baking sheets, and bake in preheated oven for 11 minutes. Cookies will come out of the oven puffy but will deflate and take their true shape as they cool. So delicious!!!!!

Notes

I used frozen cherries but you can use fresh as well. And if you don't have cherries, sub with blueberries or other berry for a fun twist! Either sweet or tart cherries will work great. I bake my brookies perfectly at 11 minutes. Please remember that every oven is different and how it heats is something you know best about your own oven. So 11 minutes is a guideline, if your oven heats "hotter" then try baking for 9 or 10 minutes and see once cookies have cooled if they were over baked or under, etc. You're looking for a cookie you're able to hold yet soft and also fudge-y when you bite into the middle. Omg excuse me while I go bake some more!! Resting time: 5 mins Calories: 183 kcal
